HER STORY
Jaclyn Whittal has been forecasting and reporting on the most extreme weather across North America for 14 years. She has stood in front of the world’s largest ever recorded tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma, has been in the centre of 9 hurricanes, reported on countless blizzards, wildfires and floods across the U.S. and Canada. She has been a part of expeditions with a focus on weather and climate in the Atacama desert in Chile and in Arctic Norway on Svalbard. In a world where climate change is now impacting our daily lives, Jaclyn has the real life experience to speak to it with passion and energy coming right from the eye of the storm!

BIO
Jaclyn started her career as a professional entertainer singing and dancing on stage for hundreds of packed theatres and venues all over the world. She studied Musical Theatre at the University of Windsor and was a star at Deerhurst Resorts Muskoka stage show not long after Shania Twain! She toured Europe playing the role of Sandy in the musical Grease. After 11 years on stage, Jaclyn moved into the media world and then into a new found passion, Meteorology. She enrolled in the Mississippi State University Operational Meteorology Program and the rest is history.
Jaclyn has worked as a Meteorologist for City TV Toronto, and at Global News in Regina and in Toronto. She has been with The Weather Network since 2012. Jaclyn has covered everything from the world's largest tornado ever recorded, to devastating EF 5 tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri and Moore, Oklahoma. She has reported on 9 hurricanes including category 5 Michael and Ian. She has been a a host of The Weather Network's STORM HUNTERS TV show since 2012, and has been involved in expeditions as far as the Canadian Arctic, Svalbard Norway, Mount Everest in Nepal and the Atacama Desert in Chile. She has been featured in magazines such as FLARE, Inside Hook, Popular Science, Scholastic and on TV networks such as Discovery, Smithsonian, Cottage Life, National Geographic, BBC world news, CNN, CBC National, and several podcasts around the world. ​In 2021, Jaclyn was elected a fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society. In 2023, Jaclyn was elected Fellow of The International Explorers Club. Jaclyn is a proud member of the educational team with non-profit Impossible 2 Possible, where she travels to remote locations across the world teaching youth about extreme weather and climate change.
